Gouldian Finch

According to industry experts, Gouldian finches display vibrant colors including black, green, yellow, and red, and this is true for both males and females. However, female Gouldian finches tend to have less intense coloration. One distinctive characteristic of males is their purple chest, while females have a lighter mauve chest. These finches have an average length of 125-140 mm (4.9-5.5 in) and may have red, black, or yellow heads. Initially thought to be three separate species, it is now known that these are simply different color variations of a single species found in the wild. Through selective breeding, mutations have also been developed, resulting in blue, yellow, and silver coloration in the body and breast.
