African Gray Parrot

The African Gray Parrot is a medium-sized bird with a predominately grey color and black bill. It typically weighs 400 g (14 oz) and has a length of approximately 33 cm (13 in). The head and wings tend to be darker than the body, with slight white edges on the feathers. Juveniles have a similar appearance to adults but may have darker eyes and grey undertail coverts. These parrots are similar in appearance between the sexes and can live for 40-60 years in captivity, though their lifespan in the wild is shorter at around 23 years. Breeding begins at 3-5 years of age and each brood typically consists of 3-5 eggs.
