While their lengths range from 19-21 centimeters or 9-11 inches, Diamond Doves are small birds with white spots and black edges on their wings, red eyes, and orange eye-rings regardless of sex. Although males and females are similar in appearance, the female's plumage has a less vivid eye ring and more brown coloring. The male features a light blue-grey head, neck, and breast, a dark grey bill, and a brown-grey back and tail. Their legs and feet are pink. Juveniles have a light grey bill, fawn-colored iris and eye ring, grey feet and legs, and a grey breast without white wing spots.
