Major Mitchell's Cockatoo

The Major Mitchell's Cockatoo, also known as the Pink Cockatoo or Leadbeater's Cockatoo, is a medium-sized bird found in arid and semi-arid regions throughout Australia, except for the north east. Its soft-textured plumage is white and salmon-pink, with a striking red and yellow crest. This species was named after Major Thomas Mitchell, who described its beauty in his writings. Both male and female Pink Cockatoos are similar in appearance, with males typically being larger in size. The female has a wider yellow stripe on its crest and develops a red eye as it matures.
