The Ring-Necked Pheasant is a widespread native species in Asia and the southeast of Europe, with a presence in the northern foothills of the Caucasus Mountains. Although it is primarily found in these regions, it has been introduced to other areas as a popular game bird. In certain places, such as Europe where it is naturalized, it is referred to simply as the "pheasant". The term "Ring-Necked pheasant" encompasses various subspecies and hybrid birds with white neck rings, as well as the entire species in North America.
